As some of you can probably imagine, I'm very sad right now. My beloved Green Bay Packers lost in overtime to the New York Giants 23-20. A 47-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes in overtime tonight gave the New York Giants a 23-20 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. Tynes redeemed himself with the game winner, after missing a 36-yard attempt as time expired in the fourth quarter of a game played in frigid temperatures at historic Lambeau Field. He also kicked two other field goals in the win.
Eli Manning completed 21 of 40 passes for 255 yards for New York (13-6), who will play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII Feb. 3 in Glendale, Ariz. Plaxico Burress had 11 receptions for 154 yards and Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw each rushed for a touchdown for the Giants. Brett Favre went 19 of 35 passing for 236 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Packers (14-4), who were trying to win their first conference title in 11 years. Donald Driver had five receptions for 141 yards and a score.
What annoys me is that I thought, no, I KNEW they were going to win. I swear on my life that I was planning on rooting for the Packers in the Super Bowl if they took on the Patriots. But now, I don't get the chance! I get to root for something almost as good though. I get to cheer for the future 19-0 New England Patriots who are going to DESTROY the Giants!
As for now though, I'm "mourning the loss of Brett Favre's Super Bowl dreams." Guess I'll just wait till next year...

Heh, I once heard a very valuable piece of wisdom, which, though I think it is very profound, I will NOT encourage you to follow. In this case.
Root for whoever beats you/your team, because if they were able to beat YOU, what does it mean when they lose?
(As I said, root for the Patriots, they're better than any other team :D)
I BELIEVE in Eli! Once again, my prediction is proved to be correct. Everyone thought I was going delirious when I said Eli would become an elite quarterback, and now guess who's in Super Bowl 42!!!!! One more thing to add to my resume.
I do feel bad for Brett, though. You gotta love Brett.

Coop, your insane. Brett Favre is the greatest QB of ALL TIME!!!! I BELIEVE in Brett!! He beats Eli Mannning ANY day, hands down!
I can't imagine what I'll do if he decides to retire, which by the way, I don't think he's stupid enough to do.
Brett Favre is the best of all time right now ONLY because Peyton Manning and Tom Brady haven't had enough time to compare to him. Wait 4 more years, and Brady will be no. 1, Manning no. 2, Montana no. 3, and Favre no. 4.
ELI MANNING IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN PEOPLE GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR! Just wait. Eli will become a great quarterback. Mark my word for it. And don't doubt me... u to date, I have a pretty impressive resume in terms of predictions.
What Zuzumoosher meant was that you should root for the Giants because if the Giants beat the Packers and lose to the Pats, that means your beloved Packers are worse than both New England and New York. But if the Giants win, then you an comfort yourself knowing that you lost to the champion and at least New England didn't outdo you guys.
In response to the end of your post, about next year, you can forget it. Sorry to be blunt, but there is no fathomable way under the sun that the Packers will go 13-3 again. I'd guess maybe 9-7 or 8-8 next year.
